New South Wales Police have seized more than two tonnes of methamphetamine, worth $1 billion, since they received a tip-off about a gang importing the drug hidden inside slabs of marble in July 2022.
"Within a few months, we broke that gang's back," Detective Chief Jason Weinstein told reporters.
Further investigations revealed that $100,000 in cash, 100kg of illicit tobacco and another 1.5kg of methamphetamine were seized at four homes in western Sydney last week.
The men were arrested on Wednesday at their homes in Auburn, Lidcombe and Birala.
Weinstein said: "I believe that the four men who were arrested yesterday had managed to escape during the operation that took place late last year."
